Book Review – Lacrosse Playing and Coaching by Margaret Boyd

Published in 1959 this book was one of the first books to document the girls game and how to play and coach the sport. Boyd was from Great Britain and this book documents the first concepts on how to cradle the ball, pass, shoot, and play each position.

One unique item in this book is her reference to the sport of lacrosse being a Nordic sport that might have been introduced to North America by the original norsemen or Vikings. Maybe her background in Great Britain offered some insight to this idea, but all research since this book discredited the notion that Europe had anything to do with the development of the sport of lacrosse.
